About Me

Hi, my name is Claire Chiow. I am a student at La Cañada High School. I am frequently approached by friends, classmates, students, and strangers for learning assistance. Most of them seek help not because of financial reasons, but due to language and cultural differences. There are a lot of new immigrants in my community, and the kids are eager to learn. Because of my achievements in certain areas, my passion to help people learn, and my multilingual and multicultural background as someone who speaks English, Mandarin, Spanish, and French, I decided to create this platform to reach out and serve a community that extends past my daily life encounters. 

I have been figure skating since I was 9 years old. Throughout my journey, I won local, regional, and national skating competition titles. I also passed up to the USFS Intermediate Moves in the Field  and Pre-Juvenile Free Skate figure skating exams. I was a member of the Pasadena Rose City Crystals Synchronized Skating team, and am a coaching assistant for group classes at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center.

I grew up with classical music. I love the performing arts, and have attended countless symphonies, operas, and musicals since I was young. I started learning piano at age 7 and it quickly became an integral part of my life. I passed the MTAC CM panel and ABRSM exams with honors. I also self-studied and passed the AP Music Theory exam in 8th grade. I hold many first place titles in local, regional, national, and international piano competitions. These gave me the opportunity to tour and perform in different venues, including Fiesta Hall in West Hollywood, London’s Royal Albert Hall, Philharmonie de Paris, and New York’s Carnegie Hall.

As someone who loves learning new things, I am a hard worker and stellar student at school. With a 4.5 GPA and 1500 SAT score, I always try my best in all parts of my academic career. So far, I have taken 5 AP Exams, passing with 4s and 5s on all. I was recognized as an AP Distinguished Scholar in Spring of 2022. My favorite subjects in school are French and Math.
